How to Respond

The other night during dinner, I slipped up and said "Oh, Crap" in front of Michael. Michael was talking about letters, and without missing a beat he said, "Crap starts with E."

So, how would you respond to that?

I love reading your blog. I'm a May 06 mommy from babycenter.

My husband said "shoot" in front of our 2.5 year old. He was quite pleased that was the word that came out instead of the other one. She loved repeating it. I tried to just ignore it, but we were at dinner at my in-laws house so everyone was laughing and she just kept saying it over and over. And with such emotion too!

Eventually she got over it, but then a few days ago she kinda remembered and shouted "Soup". This time I couldn't help but crack up. I'm ok with her shouting "soup"!

The bigger deal you make of it, the more he'll want to repeat it.

Ha ha ha. My nugget is at the age where she's trying to copy our words. She sounds them out more than anything else. Cracks me up.

I think I would just explain that crap starts with c but sounds like e because of the 'see' noise...tell him good job sounding out!

I want to know how YOU responded to it. Something tells me that is going to be much more amusing than any joke I would make here!

I might say, "Well, crap starts with "c", but technically it starts with "e" because you have to eat before you crap."
